Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 18, 2026
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Black Thumb Mobile Garage LLC ("Black Thumb," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit blackthumbgarage.com, submit a service or instruction request, or otherwise communicate with us through the website.
This policy applies to the Black Thumb website and its online forms. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from the website.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you submit a service request, instruction inquiry, or other website form, we may collect:
-
Your name, email address, and telephone number;
-
Your vehicle's year, make, model, and/or vehicle identification number (VIN);
-
Whether you are requesting automotive instruction or repair service;
-
Your description of the vehicle's condition, symptoms, or requested work;
-
Your approximate service location;
-
Information a parent or guardian provides when asking about a youth automotive class; and
-
Any other information you include in your message or later correspondence with us.
The website does not offer online payments, online appointment booking, live chat, email newsletter enrollment, file uploads, or text-message marketing.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial account information, medical information, or other sensitive information that is not needed to answer your request.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:
-
Internet Protocol (IP) address and approximate location derived from it;
-
Browser type, device type, operating system, language, screen resolution, and similar device details;
-
Pages viewed, entry and exit pages, referring website or traffic source, links clicked, and time spent on the website;
-
Dates and times of visits, session activity, and whether a visitor is new or returning;
-
Cookie identifiers, session identifiers, and consent preferences;
-
Mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, page rendering, and other interactions when Microsoft Clarity is enabled; and
-
Performance information, diagnostic events, and security signals.
We do not use the website to request your device's precise GPS location. An approximate service location that you voluntarily submit may be more specific than location inferred from an IP address.
2. Analytics and Website Technologies
We use the following services to understand website traffic, improve usability, operate forms, and protect the website. We do not use these services for targeted advertising or remarketing.
Wix
The website is hosted on Wix. Wix provides website hosting, forms, security, consent management, and Wix Analytics. Wix may process contact-form information on our behalf and may automatically collect server and usage data such as IP addresses, dates and times of requests, pages requested, device information, traffic sources, approximate location, visits, sessions, and navigation activity. Wix also uses essential cookies for website security, stability, fraud prevention, and core functionality.
Wix Analytics helps us understand metrics such as visitor and session counts, popular pages, entry pages, traffic sources, approximate visitor locations, device categories, and new versus returning visitors.
More information is available in the Wix Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) helps us measure how visitors find and use the website. When analytics consent is provided, GA4 may collect or derive:
-
A pseudonymous client identifier stored in a first-party cookie;
-
Numbers of visitors and sessions;
-
Page views, page URLs, referring pages, and traffic sources;
-
Session duration and engagement information;
-
Browser, device, operating-system, and screen information;
-
Approximate geographic information; and
-
Website interactions such as scrolling, outbound-link clicks, and form starts or submissions when the applicable enhanced-measurement features are enabled.
GA4 uses an IP address at the time of collection to derive approximate location information. Google states that GA4 then discards the IP address before analytics data is logged or stored.
We do not send names, email addresses, phone numbers, VINs, service-request contents, or other directly identifying form data to Google Analytics. We do not use Google Analytics advertising features, Google Signals, remarketing, personalized advertising, or a Google Ads account connection.
More information is available in Google's explanation of Analytics data collection and the Google Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Clarity
On adult-directed portions of the website, Microsoft Clarity may help us understand how visitors use pages through heatmaps and reconstructed session playback. Clarity may collect page and session identifiers, URLs, referral information, device and browser details, page layout and rendering data, performance and diagnostic information, and interactions such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, selections, window resizing, and form-interaction events.
Clarity session playback is a reconstruction based on page content and user actions, not a camera or screen video. We configure Clarity to mask form fields and sensitive content. We do not intentionally send the contents of service-request forms to Clarity.
We use Clarity only for website analytics. We do not connect it to Microsoft Advertising, and its advertising-storage consent setting remains denied. We do not intentionally enable Clarity on youth-class pages or other pages directed to minors.
More information is available in the Microsoft Privacy Statement and Microsoft's Clarity data-collection documentation.
Google reCAPTCHA
We use Google reCAPTCHA to help distinguish legitimate visitors from automated traffic and protect forms from spam, fraud, and abuse. reCAPTCHA may process IP addresses, device and browser information, cookies or similar identifiers, and interaction and behavior signals needed to assess whether activity is legitimate. reCAPTCHA may set a necessary cookie named _GRECAPTCHA. We use reCAPTCHA for security, not advertising.
More information is available in Google's reCAPTCHA documentation.
3. Cookies and Your Choices
Cookies are small data files placed on your browser or device. The website uses:
-
Essential cookies for security, fraud and abuse prevention, consent records, website stability, and core Wix functionality; and
-
Analytics cookies for Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Wix Analytics.
Our cookie banner allows you to accept or reject nonessential analytics cookies. Analytics tools are configured not to load unless you accept analytics cookies. Rejecting analytics cookies will not prevent you from viewing the website or submitting a service request. Essential cookies, including cookies needed for Wix security and reCAPTCHA, may still operate because they are necessary to provide and protect the website.
You can change your selection through the website's cookie-settings control. You may also delete or block cookies through your browser, although doing so may affect website functionality. Google offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Microsoft also provides information about Clarity privacy choices.
Where required by applicable law, we honor recognized universal opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for processing to which those signals apply. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, those opt-out activities are not part of our website practices.
4. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
-
Review and respond to repair, inspection, and automotive-instruction requests;
-
Communicate about availability, vehicle needs, service locations, and requested work;
-
Respond to parent or guardian inquiries about youth classes;
-
Provide, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the website and its forms;
-
Measure website traffic and improve website content, navigation, and performance;
-
Detect and prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and security incidents;
-
Maintain appropriate business and service records;
-
Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; and
-
Comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
We do not use personal information for targeted advertising or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose the categories of information described above to:
-
Website and technology providers, including Wix, Google, and Microsoft, for hosting, forms, security, consent management, analytics, and related technical services;
-
Professional advisers and contractors who need the information to provide services to Black Thumb and are expected to protect it;
-
Government authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or security incidents, or enforce agreements; and
-
A successor organization in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not disclose personal information to data brokers or third-party advertisers, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including responding to requests, providing services, maintaining business and tax records, honoring warranties, resolving disputes, protecting the website, and meeting legal obligations. The retention period depends on the nature of the information and our relationship with you. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Analytics providers apply their own retention schedules and account settings. GA4 user-level and event data is configured for a two-month retention period, although aggregated reports may remain available longer. Microsoft generally retains Clarity session-playback data for 30 days and may retain certain click, heatmap, labeled, or favorited session data longer under its published retention schedule. Wix retains information in accordance with our account settings, Wix's terms, and applicable legal requirements.
7. Children's Privacy
The website is intended for adults seeking services or information for themselves or their families. Children under 13 must not submit forms or personal information through the website. All inquiries about youth automotive classes must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 submitted personal information without appropriate parental involvement, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian may contact us at info@blackthumbgarage.com regarding a child's information.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and whether an applicable privacy law covers our processing, you may have the right to:
-
Confirm whether we process your personal information and access that information;
-
Correct inaccurate personal information;
-
Request deletion of personal information;
-
Obtain a copy of personal information in a portable format;
-
Request information about the third parties that receive personal information; and
-
Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling.
Black Thumb does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or conduct profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To submit a request, email info@blackthumbgarage.com with the subject line Privacy Request and describe the request. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits, but we may verify the agent's authority and the consumer's identity.
If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing info@blackthumbgarage.com with the subject line Privacy Appeal. We will respond as required by applicable law. You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising an applicable privacy right.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please use care when deciding what information to submit online.
10. Processing in the United States
Black Thumb primarily serves Oregon and other United States customers. Information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where Wix, Google, Microsoft, or their service providers operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
11. Third-Party Links
The website may link to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy, security, or content. Review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our website, services, vendors, or legal obligations. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated through an additional website notice when appropriate.
