Youth Automotive Classes

Black Thumb’s youth automotive classes make mechanical learning hands-on, engaging, and appropriate for each age group. Younger students can explore basic engineering concepts by building model engines, mousetrap cars, and simple projects using everyday materials. Older students can progress to working with go-kart engines, pumps, and other mechanical systems, learning how to safely take components apart, understand how they function, and put them back together. Classes are offered in partnership with Baker Charter School or through the DIY Cave, giving students a practical setting to build confidence, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and an early appreciation for the mechanical trades.
